Our Creative Journey

Stage Left Players in historic Lisbon, Ohio, started as a group of cavalier theater goers and lovers who wanted to bring their love of the arts to a small town in Northeast Ohio.

It's since transformed into a pillar of the community by offering classes, workshops and live performances year-round.

Established in 1992, Stage Left Players has been a cornerstone of the local arts community for more than three decades.

Our journey began with a small group of dedicated artists who shared a passion for theater and visual arts. Over the years, we have grown into a thriving non-profit organization, providing a platform for local talent to shine on stage and behind the scenes. Our commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement drives us to continue expanding our reach and impact.

Mission Statement

Stage Left Players is a non-profit arts organization that provides a safe space to nurture performers, directors, designers, artists, makers and writers of all ages and abilities who work together to transform and inspire our community.

Transforming. Inspiring. Creating Community Through the Arts.

Paul Dahman

Acting and Improv Coach

Stage Left's Master Teacher, Paul Dahman, began dabbling in the ancient art of improv comedy after watching just one too many episodes of "Whose Line is it Anyway?" He started training seriously at the tender age of 19. He trained with Mainstage Improv in Columbus, before leading and training young padawans of his own for two years.

Paul interned with Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC, a comedy school created, in part, by Amy Poehler. He trained more (because you always continue to learn) with Good Ghosts Improv in NYC. They performed exclusively at the COW Theatre in 2015. Moving back to Youngstown in 2016, he got involved in community theatre. In 2017 he joined and began to help teach improv to the members of The Dinner Theatre Rejects, the area's premier comedy group and talented padawans.

Paul serves as Transition SSA with Columbiana Board of Disabilities.

Will has spent much of his career in media, working with some of the most notable news organizations in the world as a digital strategist, SEO and an audience engagement specialist.

During the COVID lockdown of 2020 he produced, directed and wrote for a comedy news show which was filmed entirely remotely.

John Diddle

Lighting Designer / Director

John’s journey into the arts, specifically lighting design, began during Stage Left Players’ production of Breaking Up Is Hard to Do. From that initial experience, he discovered a profound passion for storytelling through light.

Since then, John has worked with SLP’s Lighting Consultant Daniel Huston to learn the art of theatrical lighting and develop design skills that he’s used to light dozens of productions.

Each project challenges him to explore new artistic possibilities, and he finds immense joy in collaborating with talented teams to bring stories to life. His lighting journey is a cornerstone of his artistic identity, showcasing his ability to craft atmosphere and emotion on stage.

John is an accomplished photographer and the owner of Hocus Focus
